PDI has developed a completely redesigned high flow airbox for the Toyota VDJ79, engineered to increase intake airflow while retaining the reliability, serviceability and clean appearance of a factory style system.
PDI wanted to develop a practical solution that improves airflow throughout the entire airbox not simply increase the size of the outlet.
We’re now excited to introduce our VDJ79 High-Flow Airbox, featuring:
• High Volume Airbox Design
Increased internal volume allows airflow to be distributed more effectively across the entire filter panel, helping reduce restriction and maximise the usable filtration area.
• Larger Filter Element
Designed around a larger filter element than the standard VDJ79 airbox, providing increased filtration surface area and greater airflow potential.
• Factory and Aftermarket Filter Options
Compatible with readily available factory style and popular aftermarket replacement filters, making servicing and replacement straightforward.
• Cast Alloy Construction with 4″ Bell-Mouth Outlet
The durable cast alloy body incorporates a smooth 4-inch bell-mouth outlet, designed to improve airflow from the airbox into the intake system while reducing turbulence at the outlet.
• Heavy-Duty Over-Centre Latches
Securely clamps the lid to the airbox without traditional nuts and bolts, allowing faster and easier access to the filter during servicing.
• Custom 4″ Rubber Joiner
A purpose designed rubber joiner connects the airbox to the intake pipe while maintaining a secure fit and clean, factory-style appearance.
The airbox has been designed specifically around the VDJ79 engine bay, including clearance for the DPF coolant reservoir, and is fully compatible with PDI intercooler piping. This compatibility is particularly important for maintaining correct intake system operation and performance.
The result is a complete high flow airbox engineered specifically for the VDJ79, delivering increased airflow without compromising fitment, filtration, serviceability or factory-style presentation.

Built for performance and durability, this airbox is engineered to outperform factory systems in both power and protection.
Optimised Cast Alloy Construction
The airbox features a cast alloy lid and housing, precision moulded for optimal internal airflow and resistance to distortion under heat and load. The sealing surface is CNC machined to ensure a perfect, dust proof seal critical for harsh off road environments.
High Flow 4” Inlet & Outlet
Equipped with a 4 inch inlet and 4 inch outlet, this system maximises air delivery to the turbo. Increased airflow reduces turbo scavenging, improving boost response and helping maintain optimal air fuel ratios (AFR) for better performance and efficiency.
Largest Panel Filter Capacity
Designed using a Toyota panel filter, this airbox supports both OEM and aftermarket options. By utilising the larger filter design, it delivers increased filtration surface area compared to smaller factory setups, improving airflow and extending service intervals.

Integrated Water Drain System
A built in water drain outlet prevents water accumulation during heavy rain or water crossings. It utilises the factory style dust seal drain found in 100 Series and VDJ79 airboxes, and mirrors the original design used in 80 Series inner guard ducting.
Each unit is supplied with a foam block and is also compatible with a genuine Toyota dust cover (Part No. 17743-50010) for added protection.
Quick Access Latch System (No Bolts)
Forget tools and lost hardware this airbox uses stainless steel over centre latches to provide consistent sealing pressure and allow rapid inspection. No spanners or sockets required and no risk of over tightening or damaging the seal.
