All PDI intercooler pipes and intercooler outlets are designed to have a 2-3mm bead a few mm back from the end of the metal tube. All kits come with Breeze Heavy Duty liner clamps to for long term durabilty.
The When installed correctly, this setup will comfortably handle 50psi of boost and we have seen 70psi run without concern of hoses coming off. If it blows off, it’s an installation issue.
The hose clamps included have been chosen as we think they are the best option, exceeding the capability of whats available at auto stores and we find them to be more reliable than T-Bolt clamps (which if not properly sized will leak either end of the band). Our heavy duty clamps have a longer screw section for more contact and thicker band to reduce distortion under more torque.
The trick is in the installation.
- Do not use any petroleum products
- All clamps should be located just behind the bead of the pipe and at least 3mm of silicon on the other side of the clamp. If this is not done then oil can get under the pipe and lubricate it when it slides up to sit next to the bead.
- Using liquid detergent on all connections will make installation and final positioning much easier. Additionally, when it dries, this effectively becomes tacky and holds it in place.
- Position the screws so they can be tightened after the install is complete.
- Re-tighten after first getting up to temperature, as the silicon will soften with heat.
