PDI Upgraded Front Mounted Intercooler Kit suit Toyota Prado 250 Series

$1,980.00 incl. GST

Unlock the full potential of your Toyota Prado 250 Series with the PDI Front Mount Intercooler Kit engineered for maximum airflow, lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) and serious gains in turbo diesel performance.
Designed for 4WD enthusiasts, touring setups and high performance builds, this kit delivers superior cooling efficiency compared to traditional top mount intercoolers especially under load, towing and off road conditions.
The PDI front mount design provides direct airflow through the grille, ensuring the intercooler receives the coldest possible air. This results in significantly lower intake temperatures, improved combustion efficiency and more usable power.
With large 2.5” stainless steel intercooler piping and a high efficiency bar and plate core, this is a true high performance intercooler upgrade for Prado 250 Series turbo diesel engines.

Testing shows the PDI front mount dramatically outperforms both factory and aftermarket intercoolers:

  • Significantly lower intake air temperatures (IATs)
  • Up to 100°C reduction in EGTs under load
  • Improved air fuel ratios, fuel economy and engine response
Whether you’re towing, touring or pushing your build hard, this is one of the most effective intercooler upgrades for turbo diesel Prado 250 Series vehicles available.

Built for Real 4WD Conditions

  • Bar and plate intercooler core for maximum durability
  • 2.5” stainless steel pipework for strength and airflow
  • No piping through wheel arches reduced risk of damage off road
  • Retains compatibility with factory dual battery setups
It’s no coincidence that OEM manufacturers place radiators at the front, airflow matters.
Stainless MAP filter is to replace the factory unit, that cracks and sends a lower than actual value to the ECU. The ECU then tightens the vanes to achieve target boost, which can overheat and damage the vanes.

Additional Information

The intercooler is factory mounted between the radiator and air conditioning condenser at the front of the engine bay. The PDI replacement core fits in the original location and comes with more robust and upgraded design.

The factory mounting of the radiator and intercooler is on a plastic frame which also has the condenser and condenser fan.  To reduce stress on the bracket we have design steel brackets that work around the plastic frame and provide strong way to hold both the intercooler and radiator.

The core features significantly better flowing end tanks and a core volume increase of 108% to provide better flow and cooling. These changes will result in better torque holding ability under high and sustained load situations. Additionally the higher flow and increase efficiency will allow better results for those looking to make upgrades to turbo and injectors.

There are many tuned setups around that perform well on the dyno and their first run, but after less than a handful of 10 second power runs, the intake temperatures have risen so that torque levels will drop by 30%. Under sustained load the engine can potentially go into limp mode.

A PDI intercooler will keep the intake air temps as low as possible and will result in sustained maximum power and torque being available.

EGT Gauge.

If you plan to install an EGT probe, we recommend doing this into the dump pipe after the turbo. Recently we have decided to stock an EGT probe system that uses a Class A probe with 2m long lead and digital display making it easy to read and mount. We have another option in green that has a smaller thread for mounting into intake air temps if you wish to see how you system is performing. These can be purchased HERE

Optional Transmission Cooling Upgrade

For automatic vehicles, PDI offers a high BTU transmission cooler upgrade, mounted neatly in front of the intercooler using custom brackets. This ensures your transmission stays protected under heavy load without compromising intercooler performance.

We have seen how Toyota is aggressively pulling maximum fuel out of the tunes based on intake air temperature. This is the air temperature just before it goes into the intake of the engine NOT the air temp measured in the airbox.
